Our purpose at Dad’s Jerky is to make with our hands and our hearts the best product in the world. This is how we approach our mission because we believe every individual has the need to be of use and if there is an opportunity to exercise his or her gift, that person is a fulfilled individual and is a functioning part of society. A person with a purpose is a happy person! Dad’s Jerky gives each employee the opportunity to exercise their gifts while on the job, each person is paired with what they are gifted with. We don’t make the best jerky in the world because we have the best beef or the best recipe, that is true also, but we believe that our product has been branded the best because our employees and owners are answering their calling. We are fulfilling our purpose in creating this delicious product called Dad’s Jerky. Another way to characterize our principle is that when you love what you do for a living, you don’t work a day in your life.

OUR GREATEST MATERIAL ASSET-THE JERKY

Before we started Dad’s we smoked meats, all kind of meats, for many years. During the smoking process if you fall asleep or forget you have some hunk of something in the smoker the surprise will be some kind of jerky, not necessarily edible but jerky nonetheless. We fell asleep a lot and surprisingly most of it was edible and quite good. Of course we experimented with meats, cuts of meat, marinades and methods, nothing off limits. You should try getting an oyster to stay on the grill sometime – but we devised a way. In due time and after friends and family grew bold enough or we had their confidence we began to make it for people besides ourselves. Not long after that did the commercial version of Dad’s Jerky take shape. We believe and always have that the best quality meat makes all the difference. Our larger competitors may know this but they do not purchase the best because jerky creates a lot of wasted trimmings and conventional wisdom is that it’s going to be tough anyway so let’s buy low grade meat. We have and still do buy the best cuts of sirloin steak for our beef jerky, the same cuts that steak houses use for their sirloin steaks. Our meat is hand cut and trimmed to remove 97% of the fat, marinated for at least 18 hours and fully cooked as well as dehydrated to yield a heat treated shelf stable product. Our marinades are all mixed at our plant from scratch, by hand because we designed and developed them ourselves. We use no chemical preservatives or un-natural ingredients, no sulfites, sulfates, m.s.g. or sulfur dioxide. Safe food and quality is our concern so we are 100% U.S.D.A. inspected at every step of the process, every day. Our quality and consistency is next to none and becoming legendary!
